Born in Boulder, Colorado to the renowned pianist Melinda Baird, Shaundra began extensive study of music at a young age. Over the past twenty years, she has had the opportunity to study with acclaimed violinists Alex Kerr, Igor Gruppmann, Elisabeth Adkins, David Salness, and Monte Belknap. She earned her degree in violin performance from Brigham Young University, where she performed and toured with the BYU Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras. She has also performed as a soloist in the Music of the Masters Concert Series at the Mormon Washington DC Temple, the Truro Church Concert Series, and as an invited soloist with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra and the Riverton Metropolitan Orchestra.
Shaundra currently resides in the Washington DC area with her husband and four children. She is the associate concertmaster for the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra and performs with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, McLean Orchestra, and the Celebrated String Quartet.
Shaundra is an experienced violin teacher and currently runs a private violin studio. In addition to teaching privately, she was a visiting faculty member at the Juarez Academy in Mexico where she assisted in the design of the string program and coached a variety of ensembles. She has studied methods to improve the quality of violin instruction and participated in the development of The Violin Practice System online (www.theviolinsite.com).
